There are definite advantages and disadvantages to Rider University wrestler Conor Brennan bumping up two weight classes from 157 pounds to 174.
"It is a crazy experience," Brennan said. "It is a whole different game at 174 from 157. When you go up, the kids are a lot bigger, because they are cutting down from 190 or 195, so they are all pretty big boys. I was the shortest kid at 174, by a couple of inches. These matches are like going into a war, every one is a battle."
"It is refreshing for me, though, because I don't have to cut any weight. My whole life in this sport, I have always had to cut down just like everybody else, but it feels good to be able to worry about the wrestling. I can just train to get better, instead of worrying about the weight."
