Well, there was a few people, not too long ago, that thought Howe would not have a chance against Dake.  According to the polls, he would, that is all....

Has Tony Ramos even wrestled on the senior level yet?

Not sure, but he has some impressive credentials at the junior level.  He placed fifth at Junior World Championships in 2009.  He was the first alternate as a wildcard for the Olympic trials last year, but didn't participate.

Gotcha.  It will be interesting to see how Dake progresses once he focuses on Freestyle. I think all three (Howe, Dake, & Taylor) are going to be behind Burroughs for quite awhile.

I must have missed those discussions.  And while I think Howe is still a better wrestler than Dake by the slimmest of margins(about as slim as he and Burroughs) I don't see how the rankings prove anything.  Dake's wrestled Howe EXTREMELY tough, and that's when he was wrestling up from 149 and Howe was HEALTHY and comping off his title.

So I could see Dake beating him(don't see Taylor having a shot in inappropriate term06 right now).  To say Andrew Howe doesn't stand a chance vs ANYONE in the world is pretty biased IMO.

The biggest factor weighing in Howe's favor is he doesn't have to worry about Dake riding him......

Plus, I think Howe will be too physical on his feet to give Dake a chance at anything.

I'd put my money on Howe..but I'd never count Dake out, either.  (How's that for safely straddling the fence?)

I'd take these rankings with a grain o salt....there's at least one ranked wrestler on this list who has NEVER wrestled FS! ???  Go figure!

I think Kyle Ruschell can make the rankings again soon.  Connor Medbery will probably crack the rankings in 1 or 2 years.

I was wondering the same thing. They may have reported that they are taking the year off?

Who is that?

Anyway, nice to see Graff where he is.  Obviously he's more suited to wrestle freestyle given the current rules.
I am a little surprised to see Kellen Russell ranked as low as he is(relatively speaking).

Beyond that, the only other thing I notice is how many wrestlers there are on here from the "Nitany Lion WC."  It really wasn't hard to see coming when Penn State came with the 1 million dollar offer to Cael that they were going to be THEE dominant wrestling powerhouse.  That guy has completely built a powerhouse that only John Smith and Gable can match IMO, and how tough is it going to be in the future for anyone to contend with them if they've got Taylor, Ruth, Wright, Sigman, McKnight and all the rest in there wrestling with what I'm sure will be a team that is constantly reloading with almost it's pick of top wrestlers in the country.

I want ONE thread that's not a BD referendum, but it would be great to see Wisconsin build up a little bit more of a program for the next level(I'm still completely convinced that there won't be an Olympic cycle go by without Wrestling in it).

Nice post scourge.  Don't forget about Minnesota Storm, Michigan WC, Hawkeye WC and Ohio RTC.  These 5 universities have a huge advantage over teams without elite clubs and will be reeping the rewards for a long time.

It's certainly been huge for Iowa over the years.  Basically keeping guys like Trevor Branvold in the mix simply because they were still training and working out with the guys in the room.
