Huge Racers gathering this weekend in Madison at the Alliant (sp) Center tonight and tomorrow, auction, meetings, seminar...
What the hey! I didn't know about this. Thanks. I have to be at the Monona Terrace most of Saturday, I will have to stop and check it out. Thank you for the heads up.
NASCAR (k&n east and Nationwide) is next door in Iowa this weekend and Madison International Speedway regular season opener in Sunday afternoon. Lots of local track are up and running for the season. Get out to a track and enjoy the roar of engines!
Madison International Speedway has Big 8, Mid AM and ASA truck Friday plus what is the biggest race track fireworks I know of. Dells has Super lates this weekend and there is plenty of dirt and pavement racing going on. Get to a local track and support it. Just like wrestling there are struggles with crowds and we want to get out to the local tracks and courses. Are you running this weekend Woody?
Not this weekend but the weekend of the 9th and 10th down at Blackhawk Farms.
Good luck this weekend!
Heads up - Slinger Nationals Sunday with Kyle Busch (Matt K and Trickle signing autographs) Have not seen the entry list but usually loads of talent. Kelly is running too
Thank you sir. Just leaving for the track now.
Super lates at MIS this Friday plus the other four regular divisions.
This Friday night at Madison International Speedway is the annual Faster Pastor Charity Race. We are trying to raise funds for the River Food Pantry and for the Oregon Police Department K9 division. Hope you can join us and bring a friend, can goods, $... Come watch and cheer on the pastors and they wheel the 4 cylinder bandits around the quarter mile track. It is always a blast.
Might know someone in that race. ;) Looking forward to it. Then loading up early Saturday morning to go to Blackhawk myself. Full weekend of racing.
See you tomorrow and good luck in your run at Blackhawk.
Great time tonight. Congratulations on your win Todd. The #5 car got a first and a third. Pretty good for a beat up Chevy. Thanks for all you do to make a night like this happen for the Pastors.
Thanks Rich. It was a blast last night and I know both the River and K9 were very happy with what was raised. Of course my highlight was having the kid sing.
They did a great job. You should be proud.
The weekend didn't totally go as planned as I had a problem today in practice. Broke a left rear hub and launched the car out of turn 7. Saw sky and ground. Never went all the way over. What a ride. We were able to put a new hub and wheel on the car, but the brakes and suspension are toast. Car is not pretty. I did a start and park to get points for the season. Still leading the championship, but this hurt big time.
All in all, a racing weekend.
Too Bad Rich but you know there are good ones and bad ones and there is the next one. Hope it goes better and you can keep there lead in the points.
MIS (Madison International Speedway) Classic is this Friday and Saturday. Two big nights of racing as the final show of the year.
Todd, hope you have a great weekend at MIS. I will be at Road America for the SCCA Runoffs, National Championships. I have 12 of my students racing in ten of the 28 classes being contested.
That will be a blast! RA is a great track!!! I know you will have a great time up there.
MIS also has one on one spectator races tonight too along with fireworks.
The season comes to an end this weekend. Last race of the year down at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. "That Looong Race". 100 miles to decide the season championships in all the classes. All I have to do is finish and the H-Production Championship is mine. Thanks to all on here who have encouraged me this year.
Just drive really slow. That's the ticket. ;D
Congrats.
Wish it was that simple Ghetto. As soon as you back off, you get out of your rhythm, and that is when things happen. I am looking at it just like a wrestling tournament. My next opponent is someone I should easily beat, but if I coast and save strength for the next match, that is when I could be beat. Go out and go for everything, that is what my plans are.
Rich, stay safe and bring another one home! Hope it goes well.
Best of luck woody! Kick butt and take names!
Was a strange day. Fought a brake issue the whole race. Turns out I had an oil leak that would spray on the right front brake caliper on left hand turns. :-\ Still able to get a class win and wrapped up the H-Production Championship. ;D
Scary incident in the race before mine. One of our long time racers, Matt Lagassie, suffered a heart attack during the race. Impacted the tire wall at turn six. The rescue crews were able to revive him before the Medflight chopper took him to the hospital. Last I heard he was doing well.
I heard on the news a death occurred at the Columbus 151 speedway. Stay safe forum racers!
Quote from: howavi on October 30, 2011, 09:28:51 PMI heard on the news a death occurred at the Columbus 151 speedway. Stay safe forum racers!
I think it was an enduro race, I heard he had a heart attack prior to the crash.
Yes Tom Novoso, former Lake Geneva competitor, was in an 8 cly enduro. Our prayers go out to the family and friends of Tom and those at 151. Also about a month ago Scott Ollerman died (not in a racing event). I should have mentioned this earlier but was tied up with Oktoberfest in LaCrosse. Scott was a multiple time champ in super lates (Dells, MIS). He was very close to the Morrissey (#39) team that won the ASA Midwest Tour Championship. Scott and I had a lot of good conversation's over the years. Both Tom and Scott will be missed.
Bitter sweet day today. Midwestern Council has it's annual Championship Banquet tonight in Waukesha. Truly looking forward to it. We were hoping that Matt would be able to join us as he has been rehabilitating from his cardiac event at the last race of the year. Just wasn't to be. Matt "Mad Matt" Lagassie, passed this morning, with his family and friends around him. A great racer and will be missed by all that ever had the chance to meet him.
the local season starts next weekend in Rockford for the Spring Classic Sunday. Practice today and next Saturday. Rockford really needs good crowds this year. Make the plans now. Go to http://www.rockfordspeedway.com/ for details
Mid Am, Big 8 and Vintage on the high banks of Rockford this weekend.
ASA Midwest Tour and the Madison Late Models open Madison International Speedway with practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday.
looks to be 37 super lates on the pre-entry and not sure of the MIS lates
Looks like it will be a fun weekend at MIS, if the weather agrees. I am running my first race of the year down at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, on Sunday. New decals on the car for the first time in 20 years. ;D
Rich, Hope you have a good and safe run this weekend!
Qualified in the rain. What a blast. The race was dry and I was able to pull out class win number 43.
Great job Rich!
MIS was rained out. Moved to this Saturday! Hopefully the 30 plus super lates and 20 plus late models return to the Fastest Half Mile in the State of Wisconsin.
LOTS of racing this weekend. Saturday the Dells have Super Lates; Sunday Slinger and MIS; Monday Golden Sands has Super Lates and Mid Am's and there are a bunch of other great local shows. How you get out and watch some good racing.
I won't be running this weekend as economics won't allow it. However, I will be down at Blackhawk Farms Raceway to help everyone who is racing.
Big 8, Mid AM, ASA trucks and fireworks this Friday at Madison International Speedway!
due to the dry ground fireworks are postponed and Mid Am moved but Big 8, ASA trucks and vintage still on.
Super lates!
Mid Am!
Fireworks!
All at MIS on Friday night!
Should be a great night of racing and fun
LaX speedway this weekend for Fest.
Lots of good supers, big 8, & mid am cars. Cole finish the WI race season!
Racing this weekend down at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. Chicagoland Sports car clubs, "That Looong Race". I will be competing in two races. ITD on Saturday and then HP on Sunday. Both 100 milers.
Won ITD on Saturday and took second today in HP. Great way to finish off a frustrating year.
Opening weekend of racing at Rockford. Sunday you can see the Big 8 and Mid AM series in action!
That's where I learned how to drive stick when my brother was working on the Ted Musgrave car. Fun times.
They may need rain/snow tires this weekend though!
ARCA Midwest Tour roar into Madison International Speedway this weekend!
Practice on Saturday is free and racing Sunday at 2:30.
Qualifying at 1:00.
Trucks and Legends also racing.
Lots of great racing this weekend in and around Wisconsin including new reopening of Tomah and the Mid Am guys, super lates at Dells (Saturday) and Golden Sands (Monday) plus Big 8 Monday at Columbus, Slinger (Sunday), Rockford (Saturday); LaX (Saturday and that is just the paved. Plenty of dirt out there too this weekend. Support a local track this weekend

Porsche weekend at Elkhart.

Porsche weekend at Elkhart.
Oh yah ! There will be three cars up there that I have had the honor of racing. Won't be there myself, but this will be a great road race weekend if you have never experienced one.
It was, this week is super bike week. Great racing and my son caught a monster Muskie, doesn't get much better.
Dells Raceway Park has ARCA Midwest Tour on Saturday. Should be a great show like the old ARTGO days of the past.
Madison International Speedway has firework (great show and up close!) plus Big 8 racing, trucks and vintage cars. Should be a great evening!
Went to Slinger last weekend and it was a good show. In the Slinger Bee division they have a 10 year old racing, he won one of the heat races. There are still some of the old regulars and a couple decent new late model drivers. They've added figure 8 bus racing since the last time I was there, interesting.
This week is also fireworks night Sunday. In the past they lit them from the infield and the fireworks never really got high enough and people in the stands were scrambling to avoid burning embers. From what I hear, they've moved the fireworks behind the access road behind the backstretch.
Slinger Nationals are coming up too. I heard they renamed them The Dick Trickle Miller Light Nationals.
I have heard it will be a good number of cars and some ringers coming in. Plus the cool pay out $9999.99 and I think start is $999.99. It should be a good one. Busch is been tough to beat there (broke last year going to the front)

I'm in the anybody but Busch camp. Ugh!
Slinger national are tomorrow (Tuesday).
Next Tuesday -- THE MILE! Mid AM; Big 8; ARCA Trucks; Vintage; ARCA Midwest Tour
Big 8 and Firework Friday at Madison International Speedway. They put on one of the best fireworks show around and the Big 8 should have over 30 teams.
Come enjoy some local racing!
Only chance to see ARCA in Wisconsin this year.
ARCA at Madison on Sunday!!!
Ross K and Travis S will join them on their first runs in an ARCA car. The last two years have been GREAT races. Lots of side by side racing.
tickets are only $25 and includes both Saturday (qualifying) and Sunday (race)

I really wish I could go. Packer game tonight, board retreat for church & Mexican Fiesta tomorrow, and Hurling championships Sunday. Ugh!
It was a good race. Got to talk a little with Matt K and Kenny S.
Sunday is MIS last race of the season. And Slinger has Tundra and should have a 40+ super late car count.
Going to the VSCDA weekend at Road America this weekend. Great time to see friends and watch some awesome drivers and cars on America's National Park of Speed.
SHELBY AMERICAN SHELBY AMERICAN SHELBY AMERICAN SHELBY AMERICAN

GT350 GT350 GT500 GT500
Maybe ram will be there.
I have a place there now but won't be there this weekend. Last weekend a parade of 100+ Porsches in town was so cool.
great day - wrestling in for 2020; 2024 and got to see Richie Bickle in what could be his last win. What a way to go out at MIS today. Restart in second with 25 to go and hammered it in one and two and never looked back. On the other end of the time line was a young girl (Decker) winning the truck race and young guy (Talaski) wins the race and track championship. Congrats to Casey Johnson getting the super late championship and Jerry Wood in the truck track champion. They are going back to Friday racing next year.

Dang it, I wish I would have known Rich was going to be there. One of the first guys my brother worked for back in the #45 Miller Lite days. Traveling with his team was, ehem, a wild ride. My brother would later work for Richard Petty Motorsports and on Richie's #17 truck. I went out to Fontana to see those guys and on the way to the hotel I rode with Rich and my bro. Heading onto the on ramp, Rich decided to give the other team members in the other rental car ahead of us the "bump and run". I would have never of tried that because of fear of the air bag coming out but he knew the limits of the car and that bumper!
Did Richie formally hang it up?

>:( Sorry I missed it. :'(
From what I understand Rich will finish the ACRA Midwest season (Elko and LaX). I have heard, but not for sure, that he will go after another National Short Track Championship at Rockford and that there is an outside possibly he will run for a seventh Snow Ball Derby championship.
So there is still time to see him race a couple more times. NSTC looks like a stacked field again this year. It will be interesting to see if he can defend his title from last year. Hoffman is in now, looking for #4. And there are a couple young shoes with shots, Casey Johnson, Mikey B, Steve Apel just to name a few.
So when they said it was his last race, they meant at MIS? Please tell me he is not going to do a Mark Martin.
Bickle will run his last race at Rockford this weekend on Sunday. He will defend his title of NSTC and than the next weekend he will run Oktoberfest at LaX.
NO deal yet for the Snowball. Now it is a motor problem and some other details. Richie calls Rockford his home track (we all know it was Capital (MIS) Speedway).
Woody - your right, I hope it does not turn into a MM but it would not surprise me at all as competitive as he has been this year.
Went to Eklo last weekend. WOW, talk about a bad fast track!

Ohh, I need to find a way to get there. My daughter was begging to get to Slinger this year and I made it once but didn't take the kids due to the late hour. Maybe I can use that as an excuse to get the kids down to Rockford!
Elko?
3/8 mile high bank in Elko, MN. The Ryan's own it now and have made great improvements. It is one if not the best grandstands of any local track I have been to. Two solid grooves and a third if you would dare to go way high in one and two. Huge field of cars. I think it was over 30 legends, over 20 bombers, 30 late models, 26 or 28 supers and a bunch of the 4 cyl.
This weekend is the Mid Am Banquet we have asked Mitch Hull to come speak. He accepted and will speak at the banquet and also in the afternoon at 4:00 pm. It is open to everyone that would like to hear Mitch. He will be speaking at the Wintergreen hotel in WI Dells. Hope you can join us!
Is he a driver? Or is that Mitch Hull?
thanks Howavi, it is Mitch Hull.
Hope to see some of you at the Wintergreen to hear Mitch speak. There will also we a Q&A time where we can ask about the state of Wisconsin and Olympic wrestling.
Thanks Todd for posting. Truly wish I could be there to speak with Mitch, again about our sport. Weather will not let me have a break.

It went great. My whole session in the car was in the rain. When Nic got in the car the rain stopped and the track dried out by the end. First in class, Improved Touring D. Win number 46 in my racing career.
Excellent Rich!

Hope you have a fun weekend. We start next weekend down at Blackhawk Farms Raceway with Drivers School and Race.
a lot of good racing this weekend around the state. Big 8 runs at Madison International Speedway with a great fireworks show. Dells, Lx and Jefferson have fireworks on Saturday. Rockford has ARCA Midwest Tour on Saturday including the return of Richie Bickle in the 45. Come out and see some great racing and fireworks this weekend!
Lots of great racing this weekend at local tracks around Wisconsin and the Midwest but one huge event has come together for next Tuesday. WIR is running a Big 8 Series race and ACRA Midwest Tour event. The Tour event pays $10K and is attracting some good drivers including Brickle, Ross K, Travis and Johnny Sauter to name a few. I heard ticket prices are very reasonable too!
Also heard The Howe L Memorial is moved from The Mile to MIS in August.
Yes The Howie Letttow has been moved to Madison. I am running this weekend down at Blackhawk Farms in my second race in my new Swift DB 1, Formula Ford.

Mid AM hits the dirt at Dodge County tonight. Should be a fun one.
If you have or have not ever gone to a local race I would invite you to get out to Jefferson Speedway this weekend. It is the Wisconsin State Championships and is normally a two day show. This year a third day is added, Sunday, the TUNDRA Super Late model series. It should be great racing all three days. What makes Jefferson so cool? Three and four wide coming into and out of turns 3 and 4. It is something to see.
Great events around the state today - Dells runs a great show with super lates and super trucks; Elko has Big 8 and Midwest tour event and Dodge County Fairgrounds hosts the IRA Sprints (360's and 410's) and Mid AM!

It was a great Weekend for racing. Won my First Endurance race running a Spec Racer Ford, with Co-Driver Scott Barr, at The Milwaukee Mile.
Good job. Congrats, Woody.
Big opening weekend at Madison International Speedway this weekend - ARCA Midwest Tour; Super Trucks; Mid Am. Practice on Saturday; Racing on Sunday with the Joe Shear Classic
Local racing in full swing this weekend!
Tons of great short track racing this weekend.
Maybe the two biggest events - ARCA Midwest Tour at Jefferson Speedway on Saturday and the Dick Trickle Memorial at Golden Sands on MOnday
WOW! That was an awful looking wreck. Praying Dixon and Howard are ok. Glad to see them up and moving and speaking
Huge event at Jefferson Speedway this weekend. Last night they qualified and ran some race to begin to set the field. There were over 150 cars and legends join in the fun today. Racing at 6:00 tonight. Support your local track.
