I don't think we will be hurting at 125/133 anytime soon.  After this year, we will have 2 more years of Brown and 4 (or 5 with a redshirt) more years of Burwick and Barnett.

Now it is not ideal to lose Konrath, but Burwick and Barnett have a chance to be pretty tough at 125 and 133.

Just to exemplify that turnover.

Here is the list of everyone from our 2017-18 roster (sorted by weight) that didn't graduate. The crossed-off ones are not even listed on this year's roster.

Ethan Rotundo
Michael Cullen
Paul Konrath
Jens Lantz
Eli Stickley
Cole Martin
Garrett Model
Devin Bahr
Tyler Shilson
Patrick Spray
Zander Wick
Jared Scharenbrock
Evan Wick
Ryan Christensen
Jacob Covaciu
Izaec Quintanilla
Brady Wetter
Mason Reinhardt
Hunter Ritter
Ben Stone
Ian Dretzka

Trent Hillger

Plus, I believe not everyone remaining on the list is actually on the active roster.

Now here are the list of guys new to the roster this year:

Connor Brown SO
Dominic Dentino FR
Tristan Moran RS JR
Drew Scharenbrock FR
Jeremy Schoenherr FR
Anders Lantz RS FR
Tyler Dow FR
Jared Krattiger FR
Andrew Salemme FR

Joey Sanchez was committed to Wisconsin, but is not listed as well. I suspect he'll end up in the Volunteer State.
I heard Covaciu was leaving, but where did he end up? I am guessing Indiana like Konrath.

It sounds like Jake Svihel is being recruited by the Badgers and that they are at the top of his list. He would be a great pick up at 125/133, remember he beat Barnett 5-2 in a controlling manor at USA Folkstyle Nationals.

It says online on a message board he is transferring next semester to Indiana.

Below is an updated roster for the 2019-2020 season with the known transfers and commits so far:

125: Brown (jr), Rotondo (jr), Barnett (redshirt)
133: Cullen (sr), Burwick (redshirt)
141: Moran (sr), Schoenherr (rsfr), Scharenbrock (rsfr)
149: Martin (sr), Bahr (rsso), Model (rsso)
157: Wick (rsjr), Spray (rsjr, Lantz, Otto (redshirt)
165: Wick (rsjr)/Dow (rsfr),
174: Wick/Dow, Quintanilla (rssr)
184: Krattiger (rsfr),
197: Reinhardt (rssr), Wetter, Salemme (rsfr) Christensen (redshirt)
285: Hillger (rsso)

Looks like we badly need depth above 174.  I assume this will be a priority for Bono between the upcoming recruiting class and transfers.

Are you missing one of the Lantz brothers?

Jens is a senior this year, so unless he gets injured and the NCAA gives him another year, he would be done after this year.

mkm13 - I touched up a couple things. I added in Dentino. Also, I'm guessing Rotondo redshirts this year, as he was a true freshman last year. Brown has a redshirt in his pocket to use as well, which could help with all these light guys coming in.

I listed Reinhardt at 184, as he's going there this year. I think Wetter could make 184 as well, but he'll be our 197-pounder this season.

Where ever you fall on Martin vs Bahr this season, it's been competitive and close between them. Frankly, Zander, Spray and Model have been in the mix as well. That's spot with the most depth this year. So, to solve the 174 problem next year, the two solutions I see are 1) Evan kicking up a weight and opening up a third slot for (Martin / Bahr / Spray / Zander / Model) OR 2) Dow beefing up and hitting the ground running at 174 in 2019.

We've all been hoping Dow adds some leg attacks to his lethal upper body arsenal. The problem is that a leopard can't change it's spots. If Dow is going to be an upper body specialist, maybe it behooves him to double down on it, beefing up and going up into the weight classes where you see less quickness?
Agreed. I don't see Reinhardt making the cut down to 184 just to go back up to 197. I also don't see any of the 184 pounders beating him. He would beat Krattiger pretty soundly right now.

That's a great get!  I guess he's actually projected to be at 141.

wrastle63

He ended the 2017-2018 season at #8 in 132 ahead of JoJo Aragone who is currently #1, Alirez from Colorado who is a stud, and ahead of Felix and Kinner who are big recruits for OSU. He was also ranked ahead of Stuhl and Medora from Wisconsin.

mkm13

Great to hear about Escobar.  Going forward, I assume they will be going after the upper weights hard.  I assume UW has to be pretty appealing there with Reader here and Askren at the RTC.

I put Reinhardt back at 197 because I think at this point we only have 2 big 10 level starters on the roster next year between 184/197 (not counting Christensen who I assume will redshirt).  Maybe Wetter will surprise me this year and be able to handle 197 in the big 10.  I think Reinhardt has the frame to do much better at 197 than Krattiger.  With how short Krattiger is, he would be giving up a lot of leverage at 197.

I am sure Reinhardt beats Krattiger pretty easily at this point since Krattiger is new to a college room, but Krattiger would have a year to adjust and grow into 184 by the time next year comes around.

With Krattiger's height, maybe he tries going down to 174 next year, as we will have a need there as well unless Wick moves up.

Even Bono says that Martin and Bahr is a close battle for the spot.
