In 1988 the weight classes were...
98, 105, 112, 119, 126, 132, 138, 145, 155, 167, 185, unlimited  (12 weight classes)

In 1989 the weight classes were changed to...
103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 275max  (13 weight classes)

In 2003 the 215lb weight class was added for 14th weight class

In 2007, the 275max was raised to 285.

In 2012, all the weight classes were again re-arranged to what they are today...
106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285  (14 weight classes)
Of Course, this is only my opinion and no one elses!

1989, my junior year. Our team had three state qualifiers. The coach had me go with the team and I got to use the "water boy" pass. I worked out with the guys in the Badger's wrestling room. I made my goal right then and there to earn my own pass the next year.....

Using the Badger wrestling room was one of the best things about the Barn. the warm up areas in the Kohl are weak at best!

Got paid to do my practicum with River Falls.  Was listed as the MS asst.  In reality I got paid to be the practice partner for Jason Cudd.  Duane Benedict was a great coach and is a great guy.  Just cool to get to coach in the Fieldhouse one time.

Remembering how far apart the wrestlers were in neutral position.  When did that get moved in?

That's a good question.  I was wondering the same thing when I watched the finals in 1981 about a month ago.  I thought it was pretty cool how they were so far back instead of where the wrestlers stand now days.

I seem to remember that starting my junior year, the '84-'85 season. If I remember correctly, that's also the year they added tech falls.  I certainly could be off by a year though.

The tech fall came the next year and I believe the starting spot changed a year or 2 before what you said. Was it 83-84 for the starting line.

I remember as a freshmond a teammate of mine walked off the mat with his hands in the air because he didnt get pinned but the stud from another school and the score was something like 21-4 and it was a superior decision. I also believe him not getting pinned won the dual for us.

I say 85-86 was the tech fall and that was also the first year you could start on top with the triangle start to cut or ride.
