If Robertson stays at 184, I would assume 174 would be between Christensen and Stilling.  I would give the edge at this point to Christensen based on their performances last year.

Rumor has it, Liegel will also be at 174.

Peissig has proven he is an excellent student is all it proves.
It just means that Peissig has two very good true freshman coming
in that are not going to give Peissig the varsity spot at 197 just because he
was on the team first.

Right. So it doesn't have anything to do with his potential success on the competition mat.

Hammen,
Who is your prediction for varsity at 197 lbs next year?

I follow the tournaments that Peissig and Lantz and
the young Badgers enter too.  It is not my intent to ignore those
tournaments in favor of the wrestle offs.  But, lets just say that McCall
was clearly the dominate varsity guy at 197 the past couple of years
and proved it at the Badger wrestle offs which gave us fans a chance
to see Peissig and where his development was in relationship to McCall.

I would have predicted Ritter to be varsity at 197 a few months ago but Chadd's
recent results prove he is the real deal too.  Peissig has been in the
room the past couple of years learning from Barry as a walk on(from what I read).  Thus,
making for a very interesting wrestle off.

I think Eric should compete right away at 197. He's a tough man, been in the room battling with some great guys for a few years, and is capable of taking that next step. I wouldn't bring anyone out of redshirt unless he is really struggling and one of the redshirted can prove to be able to compete in the B1G. That's a lot to ask for of an incoming freshman at a top tier university. Based on seeing a lot of guys go through that as true freshmen, it is fair to all parties to give them the best opportunities to succeed.

If Liegel is at 174, that could make an interesting battle for that spot; Grahek will also be battling at 141.
Lubeck and Crone would both be solid starters at 149.  I see Crone wrestles 145.5 in freestyle; not sure he can make 141 though.
It would surprise me if Robertson went 174, although he did seem small at 184 sometimes, and quite a few top seniors graduated at that weight.
(To Nat's previous point, the weight cutting plan did not work that well this year, so hopefully we are very careful about cutting too much weight.)

125 Jimenez
133 Taylor
141 Lantz/Rowh/Grahek
149 Lubeck/Crone
157 Scharenbrock/Ruschell/Donar
165 Jordan
174 Christensen/Liegel/Stilling
184 Robertson
197 Peissig/Ritter/Chadd
285 Medbery

It will be interesting to see what Stickley, Cullen, Martin, Quintanilla, and Reinhardt bring next year.  Hopefully some of last year's backups continue to improve.  Overall, I am really starting to like our team depth.

Jimmy

I thought Gabe was at 145.5 for freestyle, how do you see him at 141 and not Andrew

Because Grahek was 141 last year and Crone was 149 during the regular season.

Are you referring to an Olympic year red-shirt? I appears that he might actually qualify for such a red shirt. Not sure as to what his plans are, but the Badgers sure would suffer from his absence in the line-up this coming season.
Merely having an opinion doesn't necessarily make it a good one

Pretty sure RR or someone close to him posted that he was going to go 174 on the Mark Hall thread...
