okay so I started this topic last year and got a lot of backlash for calling the kids dark horses. so in order to avoid controversy again this year I am calling this "kids I think will win it and kids I don't think will win it but wouldn't be shocked if they did" thread
106 cody minor ashwaubenon cade willis union grove
113 eric Barnett Hortonville beau ladu badger
120 hunter lewis Stoughton domonic dentino arrowhead
126 Fernando coronnado ashwaubenon mason McMillon reedsburg
132 keegan otoole arrowhead eric Halverson Pewaukee
138 caleb ziebel slinger mason phillips eau Claire north
145 drew scharenbrock sun prairie sam skillings menomonie
152 kevin meicher middleton brett vonruden Sparta
160 tyler dow Stoughton hayden krein Sparta
170 Kalyn jahn holmen Jacob sklenar Pewaukee
182 jarred krattiger Waterford Bryson alsteen Kaukauna
195 beau yineman Neenah alec kurtz Rhinelander
220 aric bohn Mukwonago ryan reed waunaukee
285 Keaton kluever Kaukauna cole Godbout Hudson
again, the first kid is the kid I think will win state. the second kid is not necessarily who I think is the second best wrestler but a kid who I don't think will win it but has state champ skills. or is good enough to win a state title but has someone better in the same bracket.
so in otherwords your looking for dark horses ???
U might want to throw halter from Burlington into the mix at 113.
160/170 - Zach Lee...as he did win the Cheesehead.
What do you think of Halters chances at #106? Dentino had a good showing at the Cheesehead, looks to be coming on strong.
I've watched halter at 106 and 113. He looks real good either way. I imagine for the team that it is better to have bird at 106 and halter at 113. Nice problem to have though.

He has to be a big 106#, he looked every bit as big as Barnett

He is a big 106, but no way he was as big as Barnett. It is my understanding that he will drop to 106 for Regional's. I am surprised that Barnett dropped to 113 as I would think he would be the favorite at 120.

Barnett did test for 106. :o
inappropriate term03? He looked big last year
Barnett would be the favorite at 120, but he's nearly a shoe-in at 113. We all would like to see a rematch with Hunter Lewis, but sounds like it's not gonna happen :( :(
(I think) Mocco would be the favorite @ 152. Dan Stilling @ 132 dark horse.
152 or 160 I think you need to list Mocco
I agree with you, I would like to see them in the finals & not the quarters or semis.
That's why (I think) it could end up, Dow 170,Krein 160,Mocco 152!
Mocco will be at 160
I will take Mocco @ 160 then.

You'd take Mocco over Dow?
If Dow at 160 I got Dow
It could change with guys going up and down but fun to talk about.
106: Cody Minor, Ashwaubenon, 10
113: Eric Barnett, Hortonville, 11 (Could win it at 06,13,20, or 26)
120: Dominic Dentino, Arrowhead, 12
126: Aaron Schulist, Mukwonago, 12 (If healthy, he will be going 126)
132: Keegan O' Toole, Arrowhead, 10 (Could win 32 or 38)
138: Mason Phillips, Eau Clair North, 12
145: Drew Scharenbrock, Sun Prairie, 12 (Think Meicher will go 145)
152: Joshua Otto, Arrowhead, 11 (Think Krein will go 152)
160: Peyton Mocco, Nathan Hale, 12 (Could be one of the toughest brackets: Dow, Mocco, Krein, Lee)
***Think Lee will go 170, looked good at Cheesehead there.
170: Parker Keckeisen, Nicolet, 11
182: Jared Krattiger, Waterford, 12
195: Beau Yineman, Neenah, 12
220: Aric Bohn, Mukwonago, 12
285: Keaton Kluever, Kaukauna, 12
I think I have changed my mind 10 times since I started typing. Such a great sport and great time of year.
;D :o
I think Dow can't match Mocco physically at 160! If they were both at 170 then I would have to go with Dow.
could happen but not likely this weekend at zelinski duals
Great point statman. I know one thing, the Meredith/Gross match was amazing tonight and I think it made both wrestlers better going into Conference and NCAA's. Maybe Mocco and Dow do the same this weekend???
Why? It is the same match up whenever they meet..............

Is next year the year that the rebuilding effort at Whitnall and Greendale is complete, and the co-op splits back up?

Funny
Zach Lee won Cheesehead @ 170. Had been wrestling 160. But is ranked 5th @160? Is 160 best weight class in D1 right now?? Looks pretty good.
1 1 Tyler Dow Stoughton 12
2 2 Peyton Mocco West Allis Hale 12
3 3 Jacob Anderson Hudson 12
4 4 Hayden Krein Sparta 12
5 5 Zach Lee Kaukauna 12
6 3(160) Frank Garcia Kenosha Tremper 12
106-Minor
113-Barnett
120-Dentino
126-Schulist (heard he pinched for 126 dont know what he's at tho)
132-O'toole
138-Kouchiu (ranked low for his loss, but he did then beat the kid when they met up again)
145-Scharenbrock
152-Meicher
160-Mocco (This weight is stacked but I feel Mocco could beat Dow after losing to him just like he did with Gantz last year)
170-Jahn
182-Krattiger
195-Yineman
220-Bohn (Wright from Oak Creek is also looking solid)
285-Kluever
Who is that kid from Holmen (Williams ) who beat the Sparta boy (Krien) ?
Krein beat Williams 4-2.

Krein beat Williams 4-2.
Williams beat him last night.
Reed Williams (Holmen) beat Hayden Krein (Sparta) 9-8 last night
WOW. Sorry about that.

This is probably tongue and cheek and meant as a dig, but many people, including myself, have been trying to bring back Greendale as a stand alone program.
One of the issues that keeps rearing it's head is that there is no one to take the head job at Greendale. They aren't exactly a wrestling power, and hiring someone in the district to coach wrestling isn't likely to happen.
If you know of anyone that would be willing to take that job, please PM me ASAP. I'll do what I can to help.
So is 160 still stack or are people shifting weights?
lee weighed in low enough to make 152 for regionals... I gotta assume he will go 52 then
Even with Lee moving. Still has to be the toughest bracket
106: Groshek- SPASH
113: Barnett- Hortonville
120: Bailey- Sparta
126: French- Tremper
132: O'Toole- Arrowhead
138: Ramirez- Baraboo
145: Scharenbrock- Sun Prairie
152: Otto- Arrowhead
160: Anderson- Hudson
170: Deates- Bradford
182: Alsteen- Kaukauna
195: Lipke- Milton
220: Ryan- Waunakee
285: Godbout- Hudson
Halter 106
Dentino 120, Bailey #2
