There's a difference between Injury Default and Medical Forfeit... Injury Defaults out of matches count as losses whereas Medical Forfeits out of tournaments technically don't

mrv

The way I understand it.  If you medical forfeit after completing your match you are ok in not receiving a loss unless...the next match is the final match (placement match) of an individual tournament or if you return to the tournament.

Q:  We withdrew our wrestler from a tournament earlier in the year because of an injury after his first match in the tournament.  Since we pulled him out of the tournament for injury I want to verify with you that he does not incur losses.

A: A quick summary is that a loss due to default always counts as a loss. A loss due to forfeit does not count unless they re-enter the tournament.

Explanation of the procedure for defaults / forfeits / byes.
byes – no byes after first round / wrestler need not report to receive the bye / after round one if you have no match it is considered a win by forfeit / wrestler must report in full uniform to receive a forfeit
default – a wrestler may default any time after the match begins for any reason (rule 5:7) / this means anytime after wrestler checks into the scorers table / they must take a loss
forfeit – if wrestler fails to appear at the scorers table for any reason / coach must consult in advance with tournament director and AHCP to determine the ability of the athlete to continue (rule 10:2:4) / failure to do so will result in disqualification and elimination from the tournament / the wrestler does not have to take a loss for a forfeit if he does not re-enter the event, if they re-enter, a loss is recorded for the forfeit

He only receives a loss for the match if he wrestled and defaulted that match.

Also keep the following in mind in regard to counting wins:

Matches won by a forfeit shall be included in the win record of a wrestler. This would not apply if the whole team won by a forfeit. For example, the opposing team did not show up for the contest. Forfeit losses caused by an earlier default in a tournament shall not be included on a wrestler's record unless he returns to competition in that tournament.
All byes in the championship bracket or consolation bracket received during regular season tournaments will count as wins if the wrestler won his next match in the bracket.

Sam Mitchell and Stephon Buchanon should meet at the Sparta Invite this weekend.

Buchanan beat Mitchell 10-7.
Markus Brown suffered his first loss at SCF.

One more reason to have mat-side weigh-ins.

Cian Fischer (WF) 35-0 still has not given up an offensive point this season, escapes only.

Would love to see a Fischer vs Barnett matchup

mrv

How about Fischer- Gross?
Gross staying at 132 or dropping?
Fischer staying at 126 or dropping?

Would've been nice to see him wrestle Schwabe from Stratford at Akey Duals.  He wrestled 132 multiple times that day, just not against Stratford and NFDL/SMS.

Not saying they should've moved him up at all, just saying it would've been fun to see.
