Madison Public Transportation to Kohl Center... best place to park free and ride

I thought maybe people would like to find a 'best place to park' that is not a 'pay' lot in Madison and then take the public bus to the Kohl Center.  Anyone have experience?
Is there a bus from East Towne mall?  What other places are possibilities?

Here's a link to the bus schedules.  If I were to use this option, I think I would park at the shopping area near Walgreens on East Washington & catch the #27, looks like it will drop you off a block from the Kohl Center.  For the GPS crowd, head towards 2909 E Washington Ave, Madison, WI 53704.

Yes, use an out of the way lot. not East Towne or West Towne. Those higher activity lots, like Walmart even, are canvased everyday in Madison to see what vehicles are parked in the same location from day to day. The criminals around cities are getting more and more detailed.
