NEW DELHI, India – Two-time World bronze medalist Alyssa Lampe won her first match in the new India Professional Wrestling League (PWL), as her Bengaluru Yodhas defeat the Uttar Pradesh Warriors, 26-19.

Lampe edged Ukrainian star Oleksandra Kogut of Uttar Pradesh, 5-4 at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Kogut was a 2010 World champion at 51 kg and a 2009 World bronze medalist.

Bengaluru won six of the seven matches contested. Another woman who won for Bengaluru was past World champion Yulia Ratkevich of Azerbaijan at 58 kg.

Bengaluru swept the four men's matches as well, with three Indian wrestlers scoring wins, Sandeep Tomar at 57 kg, Bajrang Punia at 65 kg and 2015 World bronze medalist Narsingh Yadav at 74 kg. The other Bengaluru winner on the men's side was Ukraine's Pavlo Oliynik at 97 kg.

Uttar Pradesh's lone winner was women's star Babita Kumari who beat another Indian athlete, Lalita Sherawat, at 53 kg.

Bouts were not held at 69 kg for women and 125 kg for men.

The next time the American women in the league will compete is on Monday, Dec. 17, when Adeline Gray's Mumbai team faces Alyssa Lampe's Bengaluru team in Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana.
