Welcome Newton Smerchek!

Help us welcome Newton Smerchek to the Badger Regional Training Center! Newton is our 3rd Wisconsin native to join our RTC. Newton joins us after completing his degree from Central Michigan University, where he competed in the 285 pound weight class for the Chippewa. Newton will be a great addition to the RTC as he will be working along side our upper weights while working towards reaching his own personal goals!

Newton's Accomplishments:

3 time WIAA State Finalist
2 time WIAA State Champion
2013 Fargo Greco All-American - 4th
2013 Fargo Freestyle All-American - 3rd
4 year letter winner for Central Michigan
69-48 record while competing for the Chippewa
2017 NCAA Div. 1 Qualifier (1-2 record at NCAAs)
2017 Academic All-American
2017 CMU Most Improved Wrestler
2018 Harry Richard's Coach's Award Winner

We are excited to get Newton in the room and to see him grow on the mat!
