Gonna do it in Istanbul (no, Constantinopl.)
Go after it Jesse!
so does it start tonight? Anyone able to calculate the time change for when he will wrestle our time?
Somewhere around 3:30am CST I believe. He has a pretty tough draw in one of the deepest weights at this last qualifier. If he wrestles like he did at trials, he can win it. I'm rooting for him.

Over on TheMat.com they have some running commentary on the matches in the Turkey qualifier. JT has knocked off two former world medalist and is now in the quarter finals. He needs to win his next two to get to the finals and qualify for the Olympics. The posters are saying that JT is looking great. Good to hear.

Wow! That is awesome. Keep it rolling Jesse!
Amazing 1/4 final match!!! Jesse thru to the semis! ONE MORE WIN and he qualifies!
First Period - Jesse TD, Sweden TD. Sweden has tie break criteria
2nd Period - Jesse working hard, ref cautioning both for passivity. With about a minute and a half left, the ref gives Jesse a caution and Sweden gets to go top in par terre. Sweden gets a good gut and scores 2, looks to have more coming, Jesse stands, turns on him, and throws him to his back for the fall!

Looks like Thielke will be on mat b within the hour
Watching the fans in Turkey just root on one of their own to the Olympics. Their wrestler made it brought his kids out on the mat. about 3 years old rolled around on the mat with him. waved the flag. It is a tough environment. They must have let all the local school out for the day. The place is filled with middle schoolers
The Iranian at that weight is tough.
Thielke is now going to wrestle
thielke up now thrown for 4 and then got 2
thielke thrown again
thielke up 9-8 after the first period
Thielke wins 17-8
Looked great
Thielke WINS !
He did if.
Real nice win. So aggressive and great adjustment after being thrown twice
Jesse David Thielke is an Olympian!
Congratulations!
By the way, this was the quote on themat.com forum when the draws came out...
"Draws are coming in for Day 1:
59: Thielke needs a miracle. This may be the toughest weight of all 18 from across all 3 styles this weekend and he didn't dodge the loaded-ness. Hungary's olympic medalist first, Georgia's olympic medalist or the Indian who beat Thielke a couple weeks ago second, 2013 world champ from Bulgaria third...and the host Turkey in the semi's if he makes it that far. Good luck, buddy. We'll be pulling for you."
Wow. What an impressive performance.
Yes he gave up tow 4 point throws in the first but battled back to take a 9-8 lead after the first and never looked back. The other wrestler tried his throw once more but slipped. Thielke never gave him another chance to throw again. He is very dangerous with that duck under to a waist lock to a throw. I'm not sure the name of it and I'm sure someone will give me a name but it is a great move.
Woo Hoo! Inspirational. Wow.
Wow what an impressive and dominant showing by Jesse! Bring home that gold now bud!
Big Time Congrats!! I was in the group that doubted he could do it. I will not make that mistake again.
Great job Jesse!! Way to represent. Talk about hammering some heavy hitters, wow! Well earned.
Awesome accomplishment! 8) Now, go get the gold medal in Rio, J.T.!

Wow, from the sounds of this match I'm glad I didn't see it. Not sure my ticker could have handled the first period that early in the morning. Congratulations to Thielke!
Work got in the way for the first period but I tuned in to see Jesse chase him down from behind and toss him and gut him for the Tech.
Fantastic Jesse great hard work paying off.
Jesse falls behind 8-3 early and scores 14 UNANSWERED POINTS for the tech fall !!
