Full wrestlebacks at state

Recon

We should be thankful the WIAA allows as much consolation wrestling as they do.  Others know better than I do, but I think in the 1970s (at the state meet) if you lost to someone who didn't get to the finals you were done.  In the early 1980s if you lost your first match you were done.  It was about 1985 before D2 and D3 started wrestling back to 5th.

Two matches guaranteed for all qualifiers would be a great change to the tourney if it could happen.

Oh I see, it was for all the way back to second. Sorry I missed that part. Either way, your guy would have to win in the Finals for you to get a wrestle back to 2nd, in all divisions. But in D1 you can't lose in the first round or you are out, and in D2/D3 the guy that beat you has to win his second match for you to get back in.
