Just a quick look at what's coming back in the CWC and how things may play out....I will list in my order of prediction.

1.  Wittenberg-Birnamwood- 168.5 returning points

Key Returners: August Peplinski(state runner-up), Alex Peplinski(5th at state), Zach Urquhart(SQ), Stetson Potrykus, Zach Urquhart, Gavin Czerwonka, Griffin Magee, Dylan Sprague

The Chargers will have to stay healthy this year if they want to win their fifth straight conference title.  The team is thinner in depth than the last few years.  The team should fill all weight classes at some point which makes the opening night against Shiocton an interesting one.

2.   Shiocton- 143 returning points

Key Returners- Henry Fielding, Sam Van Straten, Mason Gomm, Sawyer Theobold.

The Chiefs gave W-B a great run last year in the dual meet and were missing Gomm at conference which would have given them quite a few more points returning. The team returns eleven starters and has been solid in the junior high ranks which will add some depth.   They will have to pull an upset somewhere in the lineup probably to prevail but have the wrestlers that can do it.

3.  Amherst- 98 returning points

Key Returners- Sophomore trio of David Rieck, Max Villnow, Bryce Holderman.

The Falcons may still be a year away from a major run at a conference title as they are very young and will need to fill the lineup to stay in matches with W-B and Shiocton.  Look for them in the next couple years to compete for the crown.

4.  Wega-Fremont- 41.5 returning points

Look for Wega to make a jump in the standings due to some good frosh coming in that will score heavy at the tournament along with getting some crucial dual meet wins.  The team will have to figure out a way to fill the entire line-up to try to move into the top three.

5.  Bonduel- 96 returning points

Key Returners- Garrett Siolka, Jacob Banker, Jordan Boldt, Bennett Gunderson.

The Bears lost a really good senior class last year and don't have a ton of kids coming in to fill those line-ups.  They will score well with their excellent top wrestlers in the tournament but will have to recruit to stay close against the top tier teams in duals.

6.  Menominee Indian-  70 returning points

Key Returner- Antonio Mahkimetas

Returning 10 starters and a coach that seems to put out a full line-up almost every year leads to a team that could finish in the top 4 but will need to be able to score a bit better at the end of the year tournament to hold on to that position.

7.  Rosholt-  65 returning points

The Hornets return 7 wrestlers and they are all solid point scorers but will need to fill the rest to move into the top half.

8.  Manawa-  42 points returning

Key Returners- Daryn Claussen

With 7 returning starters and a rejuvenated youth program the Wolves will look to move up in the rankings.

9.  Tri-County- 52 returning points

The Penguins return five starters but have a long way to go to be competitive.

10.  AB-Pacelli- 39 returning points

Key Returners- Cole Warzynski

Always nice to have a state champion in the line-up but many holes to fill.

Two things that I see going into this year: the shiocton vs Wittenberg dual could be one for the ages and Amherst will be a vastly improved team and the best team they've had in years
