As a wrestling community, what should we care about most to change and what order is the priority? Getting things changed seems to be a long process and surely the powers that be won't make all the changes at once if any at all. What should be focused on first? Please feel free to add anything that I forgot as I'm just going off of subjects that tend to become hot topics or have recently gotten a lot of conversation. Some of these could be combined, but keep in mind all out changes seem to never happen.

In no specific order:

Weight classes-cutting to 12 or 13, changing the weights, etc.
JHI-Junior High Inclusion
Weight management-Kids not cutting to a weight until lbs have been added
Regionals-combining into Super Regionals
Team State Series-deciding with an individual tournament
Wrestling calendar-starting after Thanksgiving
State Tournament-each wrestler guaranteed 2 matches in Madison
Divisions-go to 4 or knock down to 2

That is my order.

I think if this question was posed at the beginning of the year vs. now close to State there may be some different answers or orders.

1. Doing something with the weight classes, maybe cutting, maybe not, but the numbers of wrestlers we have vs. the number of weights, or weight class distribution simply don't match up. It's hurting the sport at virtually all levels.
2. JHI/Doing something different at or with our Middle School-level kids. We somehow need to re-vamp what is happening in this age group to bring more kids into the sport and retain them.
3. 2 matches at State seems pretty darn simple to take care of, pretty common sense, and beneficial to the state series as a whole.I like it better than the possible hornets nest of seeding...
4. Getting rid of a weekend. Be it Conference or Regionals. Kids and coaches need a break before the last big push. At all levels of athletics, it's known that rest and refinement is critical as you are trying to peak.

The rest of the suggestions are worthy of discussion but not imperative.

Combine Regionals.
Eliminate the Conference dual requirement and setup Dual Pools so schools can setup duals with teams that have like line ups.
Adopt College out of bounds rule.
Clean up the Skinfold process.
Double elimination at State.
JHI
Allow combined practices 4 times per year.

gablesgrip1

1.  Cut weight classes to 11 or at least 13,  odd number of matches well eliminate all the tie breaking criteria.

2.  Stalling rule like college for out of bounds

3. Uniform-fight shorts

4. Even the 3 divisions so they are all equal size.  No reason division 1 should be different

5.  2 matches at state

6.  Allow more combined scrimmages-  can we do an extra scrimmage or 2 instead of a dual.(replace a dual for a scrimmage)

7.  Leave everything else the same

100% College out of bounds rules. This would make things a lot more interesting. Too much garbage called on the edge of the mat. I would like some Wisconsin Refs to weigh in on this and know their thoughts.

Will need bigger competition mats which means expenses for each school district is biggest issue I see with this one.

Funny that you still have that signature, Barou!

I've changed my opinion somewhat and would not have a problem with JHI..... but still not sure if it really changes anything.

That's what booster clubs and fund raising is for this is not a very valid excuse, a concern yes, but it can be done with just a little bit of work.
