I iced fished for the last time of the year on sunday April 28th. That is the latest I have ever ice fished. Me and another guy had 30 perch that we kept. Still was able to drive out with a 4-wheeler. Many of the lakes will still be iced up on saturday for the fishing opener. I will probably fish the Flambeau river if I go. Anyone have plans for the opener?

I'm praying some walleye are running in the mighty Miss. If not trout opens and I will be meandering the Kickapoo and little La Crosse rivers and a few creeks that join them.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

Need to get my license.  How does the fishing license 'work' date-wise?  Is it one calendar year (Jan-Dec) or one full year from when you purchase it?  Also need a new State Park sticker... (Bought two last year and lost one before getting it on the old Jeep... aaargh)

March 31st is the end of the season. I picked up my new one a few weeks ago; even though last weekend was the first I've used it in about a month.

Remember to get the inland trout stamp if you plan on hitting the streams. It's a fun kind of fishing.

During college I worked on a project studying the restoration/reclamation of the Coon Valley Creek ... Ever fish there?

With all area lakes still ice-covered and a cold snap predicted, I will spend most of opening day watching my granddaughter play a softball double header.  I might try fishing a stream that I know of, where walleyes stage pre/post-spawn, though.
