The National Wrestling Coaches Association is pleased to announce the expansion of its CEO Leadership Academy for the 2014 calendar year.

In the past, the NWCA has held such academies in partnership with the FCA (to accommodate the unique needs of college coaches at faith-based universities) and the annual NWCA Convention (to accommodate the needs of coaches at public colleges).  Now, the NWCA will bring a third CEO Leadership Academy to Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania with the focus on women's intercollegiate wrestling coaches.

"We've had some great discussions over the last few months with college administrators with respect to starting and developing wrestling opportunities for women," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. "There has never been a more important time to accelerate the development of highly trained coaches with proficient CEO skills to ensure the sustainability of the newly established women's intercollegiate teams around the nation. "

"We have recently been promoting the benefits of women's intercollegiate wrestling to entire conferences and we want them to feel comfortable that there will be a talented field of proficient coaches to lead their programs in ways that are closely aligned with educational values," added Moyer.

USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States, and Lock Haven University are also partnering on the project. USA Wrestling will be providing funding in addition to its elite coaching staff and wrestlers.  Lock Haven University is providing fantastic facilities and nationally renowned faculty.

The Women's Leadership Academy will take place at Lock Haven on August 7-10 in conjunction with an elite-level women's wrestling training camp. The Academy will feature the core content of the CEO Leadership Academy along with content specifically designed for coaching women's wrestlers.

The NWCA will provide full scholarships to the Leadership Academy for 25 coaches with a priority given to those who are the closest to being ready to lead future women's programs.

The group will be facilitated by Dr. Dan Gould of Michigan State University, a nationally renowned coaching development expert and the architect of the NWCA Leadership Academy.
