I hope Acosta is healthy. I haven't heard otherwise. I don't know much about Hasselberger except that he isn't as dominant as Acosta and has some losses. Acosta is much too disciplined I feel

Crossface,Nolan Shea 120lbs,Dalton Shea 106lbs(has ankle injury)120lb Shea is not injured. Some of you are awful high on a freshman at 113lbs,tough pick when you consider that 4 of the top 5 returning state placewinners(106lbs)are all going to be at 113lbs.Should be real interesting wt class to watch.

Have to agree with Boo - Mocco is a very good wrestler, Surprised with all the picks for him, there are many kids at 113 with very strong resumes this year.  Furseth, Hanson, Lee, Hensley (if he stays), White & Van Maanen - if they drop

As for Folley - again great wrestler, but it's a bit like Groundhog day - each year we hear how dominate he is, of course he is dominate, you don't see their team at Lordes, Bistate, cheese, badger, etc...  No disrespect to the Couger Inv, Stech Inv, Cutler Inv - just not at the same level - I shouldn't be surprised by that brash statement - each year same couple posters.  That field is loaded with White, Hasselberg, Fosser, Smith, and others.  He has a very good shot, but it's going to be a dog fight to the end.

Just a thought everyone is over looking Hasselberger. Just because folley beat Acosta when he was ranked number one DOSNT mean oh yeah this kids going to win state I think Hasselberger is gonna be tough to beat and he's gonna go into the tournament looking for it this year since he was a runner up last year

well said and nobody is looking over hasselberger...the kid is beast as he was last year!! Folleymay not have the toughest schedule but he has wrestled tough guys according to track wrestling and I caught a glimpse of the kid last yearbut mostly this year, hes the real deal....I think he'll take it

I have to agree never count hasselberg out come tournament time. He's a gamer when it comes to the kohl center. He knows what it takes and he always seems to really turn it on. Now im not saying he is going to be champ at 26. Im just saying just because he hasn't had the best season thus far doesn't mean he can be counted out. He's dangerous at the end of march.

I do know that Acosta was still hurt from his finals match against wright. I think it was his elbow.?  But again, Acosta beat Wright pretty soundly at OTW and Foley lost to Wright later that day after he beat  Acosta.  I think a healthy acosta Beats folly by 2/3.

In no way will Breske "coast" against Mason.  This will be a great match.  While not a huge weight difference I believe Breske weighed in at 182(didn't weigh the full 182) and Mason bumped to him at the duals.  This will be an extremely close match and I could see it going Mason's way on the right day.

Neither are intimidated by the other...that is for sure.  I applaud Mason for accepting the challenge if he stays at the weight and would in no way lose sleep if he decided for some reason to change the weight but I don't see that happening.

Taking nothing away from Mason, because he is an outstanding wrestler, I just cannot seeing Breske  losing to anyone in Wisconsin.  Mason wrestled a great match. But when it comes to close matches and Beau Breske the odds are too slim. His freshmen year for example, OTW he defeated returning state champ Travis Smith. In the second round of state he upset Travis Hettinga.  Both being overtime matches.

All in all the guys fundamentals are just through the room. He just doesn't make mistakes.

Mason has finished 5th, 3rd and 2nd. It is not about running from each other.. They both don't have to run from each other, or anyone for that matter.  But they both could be standing on top of the podium in Madison.. and they both could win either 170 or 182..

Not guaranteed to see that match in the finals depending where the end up in the brackets (Not seeded).. If they are at the same weight they could see each other in the early.

well, the way the Shea's is wrestling right now at "20" I don't see anybody beating him, all tho i must say the young smith from Port and white from WAC may certainly have a say in it all and Milton's 182 lb'er Wileman is also looking darn good, one thing i know for sure, his single leg is almost unstoppable at this point as the 4th ranked wrestler from Reedsburg found out last night, you get a big tough, strong kid like that who possess that kind of a single leg and you have trouble, another notables in the area besides Craigs Furseth has to be Parkers Siener, the kids still undefeated i believe and has turned some heads from a once dominating team, also the young Shea from milton and peak from Elkhorn can not be ruled out, nor would i rule out any of the Stoughton kids at 06,13,26 and 32...bottom line is, there is a lot of wrestling to go and the ones who are wrestling there best in 3 weeks have the best shot at winning...and yes, ya better toss in that you man Fojser...he looks like he's on a mission and has improved a lot in the last 8 weeks..

Wadell is a great wrestler!  However, I don't think he stands a chance against either kid.  They are at another level completely.  It wouldn't be close IMO.

I am well aware of how good mason is. But the fact is they r both at 170 and have been most of the year. For one of them to bump up to 182... Well what would you call it. Even if one of them does go up... Good luck to them. They both r good enough to win titles in a lot of other states. But looking at it from a fans perspective. We have a chance to watch 2 of the nations best battle it out for a state title and I think most would agree with me in saying they would love to see it. No disrespect intended

Yeah I (selfishly) would love to see this too! But, can't blame a kid for going somewhere he can win a state title.

I think it was 7-4 Reinhart over Wadell last year. And Wadell had him on his back. He's a beast this year. Only lost to one guy this year!

It was a very good match with Wadell behind by one with a little time left and I believe he tried a head throw and missed for him that turned into a takedown for Mason!

Honestly I'm not sure about Breske.  I've heard both 182 and 170.. I was just taking a stab at it.

As far as the Koontz boy's go, I am not related, but I did witness Brady put the boots to Szohr this season in a very tight match that was decided by the ref in one of the weirdest calls I've seen.  Brady just simply out worked him.  Both great wrestlers and I am looking forward to seeing a re-match if it happens.  YES I am a tad bias

120 is going to be a neck and neck race. I wouldnt be surprised if zach smith won. And I won't be surprised if he doesn't  even place. My personal opinion is he hasn't wrestled this year like he has been the past 3. Good kid, tough wrestler just isn't looking as solid as I expected.

120 is going to be a great wt class, definately wouldnt count Smith or Spray out but after watching Nolan Shea on sat or Jaden Vanmaaen earlier in yr,hard to pick against either of them.I think i might have to give the edge to Shea.

Breske wrestled at 170 for conference & looked comfortable, so I would imagine he will be at 170.  There seems to be a bias towards the Northern kids with these picks.  I will take Bird at 132, Shea at 120.  Somewhat familiar with the Koontz brothers at the youth level.  Often came down a bit & had a size advantage that they won't have against Furseth, Ratkovek & Lee at 113 or Shulist or Peak at 106.

Then why didn't you say that? Because what you actually said was as youth wrestlers they "often came down a bit and had a size advantage". Anyone that knows the Koontzes, know those boys have never..."come down a bit". Their parents have been trying to pack weight on them for years because they knew they had to get them big enough for high school. They have never cut weight.

And now this thread returns to its originally intended purpose. If I had to pick 106, Zack Szohr has been dominant all year. The other weight classes there are several people who are in the hunt. I am just hoping Breske and Reinhardt are both at 170 and on opposite sides of the bracket.

Schulist  wrestled one of the Koontz boys earlier this year. Aaron wrestled up a weight won the match. He also wrestled Tanner before.. I think the score was 12 or 14-0.... He will be tough to beat at state. Then again Szohr is a stud too. 106 will be a bracket where anyone of the top 10 could win it. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!
Tews19  Here's a little history lesson about Tanner and Aaron they have wrested 9 times and there has been some one sided matches and there has been some out right gut checking wars. Either way when they wrestle next time the best wrestler on that day will win and both of these young men are battle tested.I just thought to bring up one match as an example was pretty weak, just saying.I also thought I read somewhere in a different thread that 106 will be weak and there's nobody there. I don't think that someone did their homework before posting that,as there will be good 106 lbers not even wrestling in Madison. My money is going to be on the short kid.But you have to make it there first and I can only hope the kid make it to the big dance.Best of luck to everyone.

i seemed to have overlooked a possible front runner, the young Louis from Stoughton, after looking at where his only losses can from this yr, one has to assume he will be standing on that podium come the state meet...his loss at the cheesehead to Leon in the Semi's was a real close match as he was winning going into the 3rd 5-6 but couldn't stop that firemans of Leon's,  but he did come real close 3 time to getting back points...he may have lost 6 matches this yr, but they all came at the hands of top notch wrestlers and ever match was real close, i know 2 of his other losses came at the hands of Milton's Shea, 1 to a #1 ranked wis wrestler Bianci, 1 to a top ranked AZ wrestler and 1 to a top ranked kid from Ill....so that puts in in good company.... i have to say that Stoughton's Kraus will also be there in the end...very tough hard nosed kid..

Trent Leon cheese head runner up
Patrick Spray 2nd @113
Zach Smith 2nd and a 3rd in state
Nolan Shea 106 lb state champ
Hasselberger 2nd in state
Nathan Smith 3rd
Andrew Mcintosh 5th

Just looked it up, and it said his MW is 152.

Can't go 145 - MWC 152 and hard to maintain.  Moving up to 160 for Regionals. Not 100% with torn shoulder so health and eyes on returning for Football and Wrestling next year more important.
