Crazy that he is still ranked 10th in the Big Ten. Crazy depth!

Interesting year at 125.  There is a huge drop off after Spencer.  Eric, on the right day, as he showed, can beat most of them.  Having said that, the rest of his big 10 schedule is not easy and he will have to wrestle well to win any of them.

Cronin - ranked 10th
Howard - Unranked but highly regarded freshman
McKee - Ranked 11th
DeAugustino - ranked 3rd
Spencer Lee - Ranked 1

That is a tough run.  On paper he could be the underdog going into every march.

I am always amazed at the depth in the Big Ten! Seems like every weight and year after year there a pack of Top 20 guys in the Big Ten and often 3 or more top 5 guys are Big Ten

That is correct.  If you are not top 10-12 overall, you will likely be an average placing big 10 wrestler at best.

As a result, for UW to compete with the top teams in the big 10.  UW really needs 5+ wrestlers who are top 10ish and a few of the remaining not far behind that.

The best wrestling in NCAA. Has been for many years. Good for EB. Easy to cheer for.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

I think the Badgers are moving towards that. For many years we were carried by 2-4 elite guys. This year our team is filled with guys ranked 20-30 currently who will be competitive. If you look forward a year and throw in Amos and Wick you then have Wick, Weiler, Amos, and Hillger who are top 10 guys and the rest of the lineup filled with solid NCAA qualifiers who have upside.
