I am not putting a lot of stock in the lineup that Bono uses against Lindenwood as indicative of the likely lineup that is used during Big Ten duals.  I would think he is unlikely to use any freshmen tomorrow as all of them are potential redshirts and I wouldn't think you would want to burn one of their allowed matches against a school like Lindenwood.  I think the starters against Iowa State and in the Virginia Duals should be more telling.

I agree. When tournament and dual meets each count as one event, I am sure the coaches want to look at tournament performances at the Michigan State Open and at Midlands to help solidify the starting lineup.

Badgers won 41-4 against Lindenwood.  Given that Lindenwood was blanked by Northern Illinois 48-0 where NI got bonus points in 9 out of 10 matches, the Badgers result isn't all too impressive.  I was a bit surprised at how bad Peter Christensen  did (he got majored by a guy (Hernandez) that got teched by the NI Hwt) and hope Empey or Rosenfeld takes the starting spot soon.

Not a lot to take from the dual other than the lineup is clearly not set at 197 or Hwt. It was cool to see some WI kids wrestle in the field house for the first time.

A win is a great way to start the season!

Surprised they started Zan Fugitt in this match, although Lindenwood being from Missouri may have been a factor. Nice to have some flexibility in the rules to allow freshman to start, although the rule limits how many open tourneys a freshman can go to if they are competing for a varsity spot.

The entire team is going to the Michigan State Open. I think they typically have two divisions. (I wonder if all of the freshmen will wrestle in the younger division?) The results will help determine the starting lineup.

Looks like 133, 174, 197 and 285 are very competitive for the varsity spot. Cale Anderson looks big! Nice to see him get a chance to wrestle.

Those 4 definitely seem to be be the most unsettled weights although I am not sure if 174 is unsettled or not. Would be nice to see a guy or 2 move up from 33 or down from 49 to create some competition at 41.

I agree Anderson looked big. Also explosive. His far knee pick from the under hook was one of the more impressive takedowns of the dual.

Saw lots of tilts this dual. Not sure if that was a area of focus or just a result of the level of the competition. Be interesting to see if they can replicate any of that as the competition improves. Definitely one of the few ways to get nearfall against higher lever wrestlers.

Lindenwood announced they are cutting 9 D1 sports including wrestling. Major bummer. It was nice to see them making the jump to D1. It is a touch road and they had a long ways to go but I was pulling for them.
