Wins by Wisconsin over then-No. 8 Nebraska and Purdue over then-No. 20 Chattanooga pushed both of those programs into the Top 25 of the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
The top seven teams remained unchanged as Iowa, Minnesota, Cornell, Penn State, Missouri, Virginia Tech and Ohio State stayed in the same position. Missouri improved to 9-0 with a 20-19 criteria win on Sunday over Ohio State (4-2). It was the Buckeyes' second loss this season by criteria.
Wisconsin's 23-14 win over Nebraska dropped the Huskers five spots to No. 13, while the Badgers jumped back into the rankings at No.19, one spot behind No. 18 Rider, who topped Wisconsin 20-19 on criteria back in November.
Nebraska's loss made room for three ACC programs to find a home in the Top 10. Along with No. 6 Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh (4-2) comes in at No. 9, while Virginia (5-1) moves up to No. 10.
Purdue (7-2) picked up wins over North Carolina and Chattanooga on an eastern swing. The loss dropped Chattanooga, the only Southern Conference team in the rankings, out of the poll for the first time this season.
Eleven of the 14 Big Ten teams are ranked in the Top 25. The final poll for 2014 will be released on December 23 and the first poll of 2015 will be released on January 6. There will be no poll released on December 30 due to the volume of teams competing in tournaments from Dec. 29-Jan. 2.

Nearly half of all ranked teams are in the Big Ten, just goes to further show how tough the Big Ten remains. With only 3 Big Ten teams unranked, Maryland, Michigan State, and Indiana.

The Badgers won 6 of 10 matches against Nebraska's full varsity lineup at Nebraska

I challenge the premise that this was an upset.

Agreed.  The upset was Ryder  Rider beating the Badgers, therefore skewering the rankings and expectations going forward.  However, that upset by Ryder Rider may have been a blessing in disguise.
