Just FYI, my key source for collegiate (and international) wrestling news, The Mat.Com, has announced its plans to disband its online wrestling forum as of next month. Very disappointing.
Merely having an opinion doesn't necessarily make it a good one

Isn't TheMat.com part of USA Wrestling or a subset of USA Wrestling? I thought there was a connection there. There was 'themat.com' and then it it became USA Wrestling and then USA Wrestling became part of Team USA, with many of the Olympic sports having a spot.
I'd guess the time and effort monitoring the forum of an audience that size is overwhelming and not worth the trouble. And there IS TROUBLE in managing an anonymous forum.
People and their behaviors, especially towards others and disregard and lack of respect for others can be a chore to 'referee'.

The 'anonymity' factor is a huge part of the issue.
People can be much more callous when they are anonymous.

What do you know about running an anonymous forum?

That sucks. I go to the themat.com forums a lot of college wrestling discussion. Sometimes it can be tiresome wading through some of the crap, but still some good stuff.
