I get what some of you would like to see happen and I would too but I have zero hope that any of those guys would come to the W and the only way I see Bono leaving is if someone would chase after him and I don't see that happening as this has been a disaster.

Quote from: sidmyster on May 17, 2024, 11:20:56 AMYou guys still say you want Ben.  What did Ben do when he finished high school?  Did he stay in Wisconsin or leave?  He doesn't have any loyality for the Badgers. Only thinks what's best for him.  He have his chance, but quit.

I cannt fault an athlete for picking the college that is the right fit for them even if that includes leaving the state.

What is concerning is for the past 8 to 10 years Askren has had a problem with both head coaches. The current and former coach coach are completely different people the the same common theme is Askren didn't support either. Sure some can say that Askren is challenging the coaches and keeping every thing honest. It is just getting really old that everything in the state of Wisconsin wrestling has to revolve around what askren does or says. I love hearing about AWA kids doing well but all the other stuff is getting to out weigh the really good stuff! Just my 2 cents.

I've been told that Seth Gross is leaving the Badger RTC. Hope there is not truth to this as it would be detrimental to the program.

If that is the case my guess is Sarbacker is going to be named the next coach.  This is just from the RTC and Sarbackers social media.  Would be be a hit to the program for the lower weight guys if that is the case.

Seth and Ronna just posted that they are heading to Bismark to coach at Matpac wrestling.

I sure wish the program and UW were out in front of this information and managing it better with the fans.
Merely having an opinion doesn't necessarily make it a good one

Wait a minute,  are you telling me that Seth is leaving an assistant position at a D1 program in the Big 10 to coach at a club in North Dakota?  You can't tell me that the club can pay him more than UW.  Is this a sign that the Bono/Gross relationship is souring or maybe Seth see's the writing on the wall and doesn't want to go down with the ship?

This just can't be good for the W. Another ding and just not going in the right direction. Sad to see. When the ship change course and start going up instead of down?

OK Fish, that was funny we wrote about a ship at the same time:)

Totally agree.

To be honest, I thought they were going to leave when Bono cut the women's RTC.  Seth and Ronna are going to be missed greatly on and off the mat.  Since Bono took over, it has been one step forward, two steps back in many areas.  I sure hope he can right the ship.

Seth stepped down from the assistant coach position earlier this year.  He then took over the RTC, so I'm guessing the club in ND can pay more than our RTC.

Looks like that ND club hired both of them whereas our RTC got rid of the women.

I'm also a bit surprised Seth stayed as long as he did.  I noticed that Bono and Seth's relationship appeared to have cooled after the women's team was dropped. Seth made the world team, but Bono wasn't in his corner.  Bono, who usually doesn't miss an opportunity to hype up himself, his program and his wrestlers on social media, was uncharacteristicly silent when Seth was repping the US on the world team.

Crazy part is he coached Amos at those Worlds and not Gross.

Because Seth was represented by Sunkist (I believe) which has a great relationship with Coach Bono and Reader.

Coaches have repped Braxton, Gomez, Pete and others
