Absolutely brutal!!!  Makes coaches queasy.  At the end of the day it hurts the sectional...some real good kids not getting out of regionals.

It's not just adding Mukwonago. They removed a Badger program that is falling off the cliff and might have at best 4 varsity wrestlers next year, as well as a Wilmot program that has slowly been deteriorating and whose coach retired.  They replace these 2 down programs with Mukwonago and Waterford, a program that has been tough for the last 3-4 years and returns numerous kids including both Halters.

The WIAA is absolutely clueless!!!

Maybe we worry about seeding sectionals and dividing up some of the top teams instead of cutting weight classes. Just a thought.

How would that work, exactly? Seeding sectionals?

Once again the wiaa is in total control and they do what is beat for them and not who they are suppose to work for.

For starters D1 would be nice to separate at least the #1 from #2 and #3 in each sectional. D2/D3 would be nice to at least separate the top 4 teams into their own regionals. Football does it with a seeding meeting. Version I gave is very simplified. You could go as far as seperating the top 8 teams and then use geography for the rest.

Could use info like returning state place winners, state qualifiers, sectional qualifiers, look at season records, rankings, etc.

Anything would be better then what they are doing now, at least from a competitive balance stand point.  I count 20 past state qualifiers and 36 past sectional qualifiers who could be at the Two Rivers Regional...only 28 wrestlers will get to move onto sectionals.
