If we were to drop to 12 weights, what would they be?

As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove

I like both of these.

I especially like the 106 to 116 idea. It stops "big" kids from crashing down on the little guys in February. I think we should consider dropping the 285. You can't go from 197 to 300. Too big a gap.

I've heard from the old timers that when it was unlimited at HWT...it was exciting.  We used to go from 185 to 275.

I've always liked 13 weights; makes tie-breakers much easier.  But 12 is better than 14 in my mind.

Yup. If wrestling is the sport for everybody, then there should be no limit. Who could forget the greatest throw in wrestling.

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

13 Weight Classes based on averaged size kids for Jr/Seniors in high school--  Different weights for JV starting at 100 lbs   -- Looking at the number of kids minimum weights testing seems most teams have more kids in the middle weights---

If High School Wrestling went to 12 weight classes, here is what I think they should be:

109, 117, 125, 133, 140, 147, 157, 169, 183, 199, 225, 295

If High School Wrestling went to 10 weight classes, here is what I think they should be: (Obviously this would be controversial, but based on school participation rates, it might allow schools to have a regular varsity and jv lineup)

111, 118, 126, 135, 145, 157, 171, 189, 225, 295

Think about how better dual meets would be if there were only 10 weights, and how easier it would be to have a solid wrestling team.

Thinking outside the box, you could enter two wrestlers per school in each weight class at varsity tournaments.  That could encourage more kids to participate, and you would not have to worry about weight cutting as much.

I laugh when someone suggests this will decrease weight cutting.....it will assuredly increase it.  Kids will cut there right arm off to have a spot on varsity.

Opinions are not facts. Because two people differ in opinions doesn't make one of them wrong.

Actually you could increase opportunity by catogorizing; Instead of Varsity and Jr. Varsity it could be Junior and Cadet have both at the State Tournament.

Allow 2 kids per weight class at individual tourneys and in the state tourney series-- this would expand opportunities-- still like 14 weight classes

+1

Or wrestling up (at even a larger gap) then now. Example: Kid now could be 126.1 and wrestle 138 (giving up 11.9)  -  with these weights it would be with the above example you could have someone 125.1 wrestling up 140 (14.9) - IMO significant
