That didnt last long. It appears the #1 seed was taken out in the first round. I have no clue how good he was, but that can't hurt his chances.

I think the guy that beat the number one seed is Jacob Clark who is quite an accomplished Greco guy who was a 2X Olympic alternate and 7X national team member.

Interesting. He appeared to be very good in his prime. Looks like he is 41 years old, more than double the age of Braxton.
57KG Round of 16 Sophia Smith Wisconsin defeated Julian Yates Choker Wrestling Club
57KG Quarter-Finals Lauren Louive New York Athletic Club defeated Sophia Smith Wisconsin 10-0
Braxton with a 10-0 semi victory. I do not know anything about his opponent to asses the level of competition but he looked very good including defending a headlock with a body lock for 4 and defending a lat drop attempt for 4.
Will face Clark in the finals. The wily old veteran against the young up and coming star. Sounds like a movie script!
5-3 win in the finals. Braxton is the champ! Looking forward to see what he can do in Freestyle tomorrow. Very very impressive young man.
Great job Braxton!

We had a Sophia Smith in our wrestling club. Anyone know her background?
Braxton is doing this at 214 pounds (97 kg), almost 17 pounds above the weight he will be wrestling next year. I would be curious what his "ideal" weight is. If his ideal weight is closer to 197, it would be truely impressive if he dis well against these guys at 97 kg today.
If his ideal weight is clossr to 97 kg, hope the cut to 197 isnt tough on him.

I don't know what his ideal weight is but I hear he can deadlift 670 pounds ;D
Braxton's first opponent, Erik Hinckley, is 53 years old, according to his facebook profile.

Braxton Amos is on deck
97KG Ben Honis Titan Mercury Wrestling Club (TMWC) 6 Braxton Amos Wisconsin Regional Training Center 6
Honis wins on criteria.... I was following online - all 2 points moves.. and Honis scored last ... Amos was ahead late 6-2.
Also, a key spot in the 1st period.. Amos forced Honis onto the shot call and Honis scored to tied it 2-2.
Braxton still has a shot to get 2nd...
Braxton Amos will next wrestle Kadeem Samuels New York Athletic Club in the consolation semis
Amos lead 6-2 with seconds remaining. Honis scored a takedown and then a gut as the final seconds expired. I yelled: "Noooooo"
Just curious, did they appear about the same size?
All this wrestling against high level competition is good for Amos considering how little wrestling he was able to do over the past year with the gap year and then he had Mono and Covid right after it so he was out for a while.
Amos is up on Mat 1 shortly...

Over the last 2 days he has been noticeably smaller than some of the guys but seemed about the same size as Honis who is the only wrestler who has beaten him. Does not seem like a full size 97kg guy. More like a J'den Cox size 97kg. If we had 10 Olympic weights, like we should, I think he would be a 92kg guy.

What a weekend. Congratulations! That was a lot of matches.
Pretty impressive to qualify in both styles against many seasoned wrestlers! Congrats Braxton and coaching staff!
To that in two styles as young as he is is amazing
That is great. None of the freestyle guys were elite, hut a lot of very good ones and a lot of expernience...also they only focused on freestyle. Very impressive!

Yes he was, I was assuming the poster was talking about the gents Amos beat. Braxton controlled the match with Honiara as well, just got that gut with 7 seconds to go.
