Anyone aware of any HS girls tournaments the last weekend of January?  That was girl's state weekend last year. It will be 3 weeks prior to girl's sectionals so will be a great time for some wrestlers to be competing.

If nothing is on track, then there probably isn't any right now.. We know there is quite a few in December and maybe early January.

I have a feeling some tournies will be organized in late January for the girls, so have patience on that. It's going to be a great year for girls wrestling!

I believe Milwaukee Hamilton is having one on January 21st and Whitefish Bay is having one on the 28th.
Ghetto should be able to verify for Whitefish Bay

If you have interest in sending your girls to Whitefish Bay at the end of January, DM me or email me at wfbwrestling@mac.com

As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove

PLEASE! If there is any way you are able to host an 'all girls' high school event during the WIAA season, PLEASE DO.
The girls need to have events to gain experience and have success and great experiences.
Greater numbers of girls events will result in more girls wrestling and greater success of girls wrestling as a WIAA event.
Make it happen! Offer an event for girls this season.
I realize the numbers will not always be terrific, but it must start somewhere. Be the change!

Just in case anyone out there hasn't looked at the events page linked above...

Menasha will be hosting an all girls high school tournament on 12/17 this season. If you don't already have something scheduled and you want to send your girls to our tournament, email me at muellerz@mjsd.k12.wi.us or send me a DM and we'll get you added to the list!

They are not the WI HS Girls Championships. Those are in February in Madison at the Kohl Center. That should be changed so it doesn't confuse anyone. Unless it's the Girls JV Challenge Series Championships.

Thanks

V,
Thanks for the incite regarding confusion over the title of the girls event.
The event has been called Wisconsin High School Girls Championship for six years, since 2016 when there was no WIAA Girls State event. (The boys Challenge Series event began in 2015)
The WIAA applies the terms 'WIAA State Tournament', 'State' and 'State Tournament' and asked the WWCA not to use the term 'State', as to avoid confusion. Therefore the term 'Championship' was put into use.

As the WIAA has sanctioned an official WIAA State Girls wrestling tournament as of 2022, as you suggest it is now a good idea to clarify the difference for those who would be confused.

The title of the event has been updated to 'Wisconsin High School Girls Challenge'.

Hopefully this will put all the confusion to rest.

Note: The High School Girls Challenge event is not a 'JV' event and is open to girls in all high school grades and levels and not reserved for 'sub-varsity' at this time.
The use of 'JV' has been avoided intentionally to distinguish and set the event apart from other events. The term 'sub-varsity' has always been the identifier for the boys Challenge Series events.

Going to be a great year!!

This year we will also have defending girls state champions besides the boys defending champs, and I think numbers for girls will also continue it's upward climb.
