2001 George Martin Hall of Fame and long time coach at Loyal High School Darrell Laschen passed away last night.

Darrell was born in Milwaukee and is a 1956 graduate of Milwaukee Pulaski High School, where he wrestled for four years and was a state individual runner-up. He wrestled three years at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, majoring in English and physical education. After earning his college degree, he taught and was head wrestling coach at Peshtigo High School (starting the school's wrestling program from 1962-1964. He then taught and was head wrestling coach at Middleton High School from 1964-1967.
He accepted a job teaching physical education and being named head wrestling coach at Loyal High School in 1967. There, he coached the program to 25 Cloverbelt Conference championships, three Bi-State Classic team championships, 14 state regional championships, and three state sectional championships. He has coached more than 70 individual conference champions and more than 60 individual state qualifiers.
