NWCA National Duals: Big Weekend on Tap for Big Ten, ACC Wrestlers
NWCA Release
by Gary Blockus | Jan 29, 2016

Manheim, Pa. -- No. 7 Oklahoma (9-2) has the unenviable task of heading into No. 5 Missouri (9-1) on Saturday, knowing that the Tigers are fired up after seeing their 37-match dual meet win streak end last week in a loss at Oklahoma State.

The Mizzou loss saw the Tigers and Cowboys flip flop places in the latest USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll. Saturday's matchup could affect the poll even more as there are plenty of good matches this weekend, beginning Friday night when No. 8 Michigan (9-1, 4-0 Big Ten) Northwestern at Cliff Keen Arena before heading to State College, Pa. to take on No. 1 Penn State (11-0) in front of a "White Out" crowd at Rec Hall to highlight the Big Ten action with the NWCA Match of the Week.

In other Friday night Big Ten matches, No. 9 Ohio State (7-2) hosts No. 22 Indiana (6-2), and No. 2 Iowa (13-0) hosts No 23 Minnesota (7-6) in another Big Ten match, while No. 12 Rutgers (11-3) hosts Maryland (4-9).

In what should be a great ACC battle on Saturday, No. 3 North Carolina State (18-0) is at No. 16 Pitt (9-2) as the Panthers try to move up in the rankings in hopes of landing a spot in the 2016 NWCA Division I National Championship Duals on Sunday, Feb 21.

Eight Big Ten Schools will host the winners of the seven remaining conferences, plus one at-large bid from a non-Big Ten conference school, to create a bowl-like day of wrestling throughout the country,

In a big ACC battle on Sunday, No. 10 Virginia Tech (9-2) is at No 18 Virginia (5-3), but first must deal with unranked West Virginia (5-6) of the Big 12 on Friday.

Ohio State is back at it on Sunday as well in a visit to No. 24 Purdue to round out its trip to the Hoosier State.

No. 21 Central Michigan (5-3) of the MAC has an Iowa swing this weekend, taking on Northern Iowa (3-5) on Friday and then visiting No. 17 Iowa State (7-5) on Sunday.

In the Pac-12, No. 20 Oregon State (5-4) opens up its conference schedule Friday night with a visit to Arizona State (9-7), then hosts Northern Colorado (2-4) of the Big 12 on Sunday.
