I just took a quick look at track.

The Cadet / Freestyle Wisconsin wrestlers STILL GOING..
39 total WI Cadet Freestyle wrestlers...

100 lb,  Eric Barnett... 0 losses.... in the Semi's.  ( Hortonville)

106 lb,  Keegan O'Toole... 1 loss  ( Arrowhead)

152 lb,  Tyler Dow... 1 loss  ( Stoughton)

160 lb, Bryson Alsteen... 1 loss  ( Luxemburg-Casco)

182 lb,  Drew Hennessey...  1 loss  ( Iowa Grant)

I think all these guys have earned All American honors, if I looked at it correctly.  I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Barnett lost in the semi's 14-9.  If he wins the next one, he will be going for 3rd.

O'toole lost by fall, and will be wrestling for 7th.

What happened between Model and Lloyd from MN.  Model got his hand raised, but when I check results later it said he lost.  Why was it overturned?

I see a good rivalry brewing between O'toole and Barnett. Barnett cut to 100 lbs while the incoming freshman O'Toole stayed at 106 lbs for this tournament. Barnett may be older but its going to be a great matchup at D1 106lbs.

Coach V

I don't think those were placement matches just placed earned so far

To this point I think O'toole has the edge which is probably why he stayed at 106 & Barnett went down.  The match O'toole lost in the championship round was IMO due mainly to strength.  He kept getting his shot in deep at will & simply couldn't turn it.  His opponent would sprawl hard & turn his legs for 2.  I don't think O'toole is naturally much bigger than 106, where as Barnett is not near 100.  It will be interesting to see if Barnett's advantage in size gives him an edge, but I would have advised him to stay at 106 as that would help him more in the long run vs 100 where where he can rely on strength vs technique.   I agree it will be a good rivalry worth watching.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think they are both probably roughly 107 lbs to 110 lbs... I think Barnett cut about 10 lbs while O'Toole didn't cut at all.

I assume the same, but im thinking its a very much a tossup... Barnett has a few advantages he likes to work, while I have never seen O'Toole wrestle yet but I can imagine he's as talented as anyone. I hope the matchup happens at State, and I think it is depending on if Brady Koontz drops to 106 lbs and he might cause the matchup not to happen, depending on the draw.

Barnett is bigger than 110 naturally.  He was fighting to make 109 a State.  Where as O'toole is around 109 naturally.  Barnett is a work horse, which is why he has the discipline to get to 100 for Fargo.  He will never quit & lives to wrestle.  Both are talented I just think O'toole is a little better.

I realized State Runner-UP Dominic Dentino is also from Arrowhead and he did wrestle 106lbs at Fargo, so I cant be 100% positive O'toole will be the 106lber.

I think O'toole has a slight edge, but nevertheless they will be great practice partners.
