5 year plan

The goal for the Bellevue West T Bird classic is to become a regional holiday tournament that grows in teams and talent over the next 4-5 years.   We are welcoming teams and schools from the surrounding states of Nebraska  ( South and North Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota,)  Iowa and Colorado can not compete over the break.  We currently have interest from The Woodlands, TX to bring a team in 2018.   Teams from Nebraska all classifications will be considered as well, full 14 weight rostered teams will be given priority especially for duals.

First year plan is to start off as a 5-7 team pool tournament, with an opportunity to grow to a 8-10 team dual tournament ( year 2-3),  and a 2 day 16 man bracket tournament  (year 4-5).  Bellevue West facility has the opportunity to hold 6 mats in the competition gym.  Athlete seating will be in the south "T" grandstand, with fans and spectator seating in upper and lower stands to the west of competition mats.  Nebraska Trackwrestling expert will be hired to run the tournament.  Date flexibility will be necessary in upcoming years.  Nebraska operates a School athletic moratorium shut down for 5 days during the holidays, so weekends and weekdays could be possible tournament dates. (example dates below)

Facilities will be open the evening before competition date for  workouts and weight checks on competition scales.   Year 4-5, team check ins will take place for pass list and any team scratches or line up changes via trackwrestling also the evening before.  Out of state teams will be encouraged to bring a competition official with them.  Bellevue West will provide a head official and all other officials if needed.  We will do our best to make our tournament very tough to turn down for officials as well.  We want this experience to be a top showcase event, for wrestlers, coaches, fans and officials   Out of state teams will be provided hotel and restaurant choices near the school or airport if needed.  With growth of tournament to a 2 - day 16 man bracket tournament a possible sports vendor will be brought in to sell tournament merchandise and wrestling equipment

1 Outstanding wrestler award will be given to an athlete in the Lightest 7 and  1 athlete in the Heaviest 7 weights.   Top 3 team awards and Top 4 medalist pool format,  Top 6 medalist 16 man bracket format.  The tournament date is after Nebraska's growth allowance, so participating teams will receive +2lbs per initial weigh in on competition day post winter moratorium

We hope that this 5 year plan gives you an insight to our coaching and administration vision.  Your team's consideration is important to us and will help draw the interest of others to become involved in the Bellevue West T-Bird Classic.
