What a great event last night at the Gene Gehl All-Star Classic. All those seniors wrestling one last time in high school for their schools, families, communities, and themselves. Some very good matches and the two teams had fun cheering each other on. Wishing every senior the very best as their journey continues into their post HS years. Thanks Ben, the Papermaker coaching staff, and the Kimberly wrestling Club for hosting this outstanding event.

BayWrestler07

Does anyone know if the results made it in any of the newspapers I checked the press-gazette and didn't see anything.

readywrestle

Newspaper coverage for wrestling is a sad, sad affair. Here is an event featuring many of the top wrestlers in a 60 mile radius and little or no coverage. I know the Sport staffs have been cutting back, but a balance of coverage should be attempted. With the team success of L-C (Team State Champs), Kaukauna, and Freedom, and other area teams, there should more coverage.

bigoil

You can't expect any coverage the opening night of girls state basketball tournament and boys sectional semifinals.

Coverage? Central Wisconsin Wrestling. 123 photos of the Gene Gehl...more than any newspaper would ever post. 1,400 followers...how many subscribers does the Post Crescent have? What else do you want?  ;D

bigoil

That is phenomenal and kudos to them. I am quite sure the PC has far more followers, one of the prep guys has 5,000 followers. Heck there were 5,000 people at the Resch watching D4 girls hoops I believe I read and here were several people turned away at Preble to watch Kaukauna hoops.

Again, awesome that central WI covered this, I was responding that there was nothing on tv/paper.

bulldog

Good point...I wonder if the coaches or organizers of the Gene Gehl sent something to the papers.

Just wanted to send a quick thank you to all the fans who came out to support the wrestlers last night at the Gene Gehl. Great Crowd.

Thanks to Central WI Wrestling for updating results and taking pictures.

Thank you to everyone involved in the Kimberly Program who helped organize this and give the seniors in the area a great final send off.

Special thank you to the Wrestlers who competed and put on a great dual for the fans. The referees remarked that this was the best Gene Gehl they could remember, and that is a direct result of the wrestlers having fun, and competing hard. It was a fun atmosphere, but there were no silly antics and every athlete wrestled to win...so again, Thank You.
