Has anybody ever had old mats reconditioned?  If so how much does it cost?  What are your thoughts on it?  Is it a wast of money?  Obviously I would rather have a new mat our program is small and does not have a lot of money saved up.
Thanks

The cost I don't really know, but Bloomer got one redone about eight years ago. They fixed up any holes and refinished it. It turned out nice and was a bit softer when it was done. It was good that they did in the summer when there was not to many people in the building because it smelled up the whole school with a strong smell for about a week. :o

Three years ago we reconditioned our resolite mat which was in pretty bad shape for a cost of about $4800, it turned out great but if we could do it again we might have waited another year or so and raised the extra money to buy a new dollamur which is around $7800...reason being is that they shave the ends about 1 1/2 inches all the way around each section to have nice sealed seams. We have a six section resolite mat which turns out to 18 inches vertically and another 18 inches horizontally; then once it all settles another few months later it shrinks some more...we lost a pretty significant chunk of mat space.  The mat turned out great but it made the wrestling space smaller.  Hope this helps.
The harder you work, the harder it is to lose.
